Ebon Hawk part 1 - aft (sheets 1, 2) Not much to see at the moment. The ship is in approx. 1:87 scale. I put a small 1:100 car there for comparison, so you would have an idea of how huge the ship would be in real word (if it did existed of course)
Tip: If you are going to connect two parts that create one flat surface together (i.e. they're on same level), like the engine covers on the upper part of the hull (top right picture), cut the original tabs, push the pieces against each other and glue them from underside with a strip of paper. You'll get a smooth transition between the parts, instead of a "step" that you'd get normally.
So most of the time you will have to print the templates out or puchase it before gluing parts of it? Is there any occasion where one actually draw and cut it out before painting?

You mean creating a new model from scratch instead of just assembling a commercial or downloaded & home printed model? Well you can create your very own models, but it takes waaay more time and some geometry / 3D modelling skills. Of course depending on what you're intending to build, designing a plain paper cube isn't very difficult
A very few people create their models by hand-drawing the templates, it's quicker to prototype but harder to get a really polished model.
imclod: if you don't mind I'm going to link your tips (or perhaps add them to my final instructions, with your permission of course) when I upload the next part of the model's instructions.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
